Overall Season Outlook

Dayton has the most depth that they’ve had in a while especially in the Anthony Grant era and it’s something they’re going to need to take advantage of. Transfers are going to be a huge part of the Flyers this year but with the veteran leadership and the number of returners that will be contributing it looks to be a good balance.

The Flyers are going to need to win some tough games this year and perform well in the non-conference section of their schedule in order to boost their resume. The A-10 will prove to be a challenge in itself and the Flyers need to take advantage of their opportunities. Davidson and VCU are talented but there’s no reason not to include the Flyers in that same tier.

All eyes will be on Obi Toppin to see how he responds coming off winning the A-10 Freshman of the year. Toppin is an NBA level talent and will be the central focus of this team. Opposing teams will look to key on him meaning that Dayton will need others to step up in games where Obi is struggling.

Dayton is very capable of making the tournament this year and fans should expect to earn themselves a bid. Serious questions will start to be raised about Anthony Grant if the Flyers miss out on going dancing for a third consecutive season. Dayton will be a fun team to watch and some basketball fans need to keep an eye out for.
