Kansas Basketball is the dominant program in Big 12 basketball and they expect to reclaim their conference crown in 2019-20. Here are the reasons why the Jayhawks will reclaim their throne?c

Do you remember the last time Kansas Basketball failed to win at least a share of the Big 12 regular-season title? Probably not.

The year was 2004, Bill Self’s first at Kansas. The team finished in a tie for second in the Big 12, with Oklahoma State and star Joey Graham taking the conference title. Nevertheless, the Jayhawks went all the way to the Elite Eight before falling to Georgia Tech in an overtime thriller.

After that season, the Jayhawks won a share of the conference title every season – until last year. Kansas State and Texas Tech both caught up to and surpassed the Jayhawks, snapping an NCAA record of 14 straight conference-winning seasons for Kansas.

Needless to say, they’re hungry to make there’s no streak of years without a conference trophy.

The Big 12 was arguably the most competitive conference from top to bottom in 2018-19 and there’s no reason to believe that will change in 2019-20. What will change, however, is the strength of the teams at the top. Kansas State, for one, is due for a drop-off. And while Texas Tech will be strong again after finishing runner-up in the country last year, the loss of Jarrett Culver cannot be overstated.

All of this feeds into a logical conclusion: Kansas will take the Big 12 in 2019-20.

If you’re not convinced yet, here are five reasons the Kansas Jayhawks will win the regular-season conference title this year.
