There are several future stars joining Big East basketball this season by way of the 2019 recruiting class. Which prospects are heading to each program?

Recruiting is a crucial aspect of building a strong college basketball program. While the transfer market has certainly gained popularity in recent years, securing commitments from high school talents is still the primary mode of roster creation. For Big East basketball, the conference is bringing in 28 new freshmen from the 2019 recruiting class this year.

Even though returning stars such as Myles Powell, Markus Howard, and Kamar Baldwin are likely to lead the headlines for the Big East this season, there are several incoming freshmen worthy of discussion. These newcomers joining the conference represent the next set of stars for the league as each program secured at least one 2019 commitment.

While there are bound to be some players that disappoint and/or transfer, there will be others in this class that emerge as superstars right away or at some point during their collegiate careers. That is the nature of college basketball recruiting. Rankings only mean so much – opportunity and play on the court are what matter most.

Now, with the 2019-20 season just a couple of months away, who are the incoming freshmen joining the Big East this season? Let’s take a dive into each program’s 2019 recruiting class to analyze these newcomers fully.
