Best NCAA Basketball programs of all-time: 6. Indiana basketball

The Hoosiers have fallen on hard times in recent years, but there’s no doubting their place among the best programs in college basketball history.

Indiana has won five national championships, which is tied for the 4th-most all-time with Duke and includes the last team to complete an undefeated season in 1976.

They also rank in the top 10 nationally in total wins (1,836), weeks ranked in the AP poll (6th most), Final Four appearances (eight), and NCAA Tournament appearances (39).

Just how consistent have the Hoosiers been throughout their history? Despite those aforementioned struggles, every four-year player since 1973 has been on a team that played in the NCAA Tournament. Every four-year player since 1950 has also been on a team that was ranked in the AP poll at least once during their time in Bloomington.

Indiana has been perhaps the most successful Big Ten program as well. They have a winning record against everyone other than Purdue and have won 22 conference regular-season titles, but they have yet to win the Big Ten Tournament.
