The recruitment 2020 three-star point guard Shakeel Moore is wide open. Moore had five in-home visits with major NCAA Basketball programs on Sept. 23.

2020 recruit Shakeel Moore received five in-home visits today including full staffs from Georgetown, Pittsburgh, and Ole Miss, according to Stockriser’s Jake Weingarten. DePaul and Vanderbilt also sent coaches to meet the three-star prospect.

Moore cut his finalist down to seven schools at the beginning of the month, but Weingarten added in his tweet that the Greensboro (NC) native is no longer staying true to the list and his recruitment is wide open. Still, he has already made visits to two schools on his finalist list, Providence (Sept. 13) and NC State (Sept. 20). The 6-1 point guard is slated to make a trip up to Pittsburgh on Sept. 23. Ole Miss, Georgia, Tennessee, and Texas Tech were the other schools on his finalist list.

The Piedmont Classical (NC) high school product is extremely explosive athletically and a hard-nosed defender with quick hands. He excels at getting to the hoop and distributing the rock though he also possesses a nice shooting stroke from beyond the arc. Moore had a solid AAU season with Team CP3 this summer as he compiled 15.2 points, 4.2 assists, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.7 steals.

“I’m seeing the floor better this year, making my teammates better and my leadership has improved a lot over the summer,” Moore told Gene’s Page, Mississippi State’s 247Sports site. “I also believe my all-around defense is better, and I’m getting my hands on the ball. I’m all over the place on defense lately, and that part has improved.”

Moore is a top-200 prospect, according to 247Sports. 247Sports has him at 179 in their rankings while 247Sports Composite has him pegged at No. 195. Rivals does not have Moore listed among their top prospects, but they do have him as the 40th best point guard in the country.

With Moore’s recruitment being wide open, it is hard to predict where he will ultimately end up. But it appears safe to assume that Pitt, NC State, and Providence have a leg up in the process. However, Georgetown could become a significant player as they offered him on Sept. 19. Georgia and Tennessee have not officially offered yet though they have reportedly shown interest. Moore still has two official trips to make if he so desires.

247Sports projects that Moore will ultimately land at Providence with them, securing all nine of their expert predictions. The Friars are likely the favorites for his services as they have been “in on-him” for almost a year and have five open scholarships. They are also in need of a point guard even though three-star Alyn Breed (Powder Springs, GA) has committed to the program.

Pitt still has three scholarships available for the 2020 campaign, and NC State has two awards. The Wolfpack have a commitment from 6-1 Camren Hayes (Greensboro, NC).
