Andre Curbelo is one of the most highly sought-after point guards in the 2020 recruiting class. Which NCAA Basketball programs made his final five?

There are very few point guards in the 2020 class that have been as highly sought-after as Andre Curbelo. A Puerto Rico native currently playing for LuHi, Curbelo is ranked as the No. 53 overall prospect in the class and has garnered plenty of high-major attention over the past year. He is a superb floor general with outstanding court vision and creativity. The 6-foot-0 guard is fresh off a strong summer on the Adidas circuit and has mostly kept his recruitment quiet.

Curbelo did recently release his final five schools, though. Illinois, Oregon, Indiana, St. John’s, and Miami (FL) are all that remain in the running to land this talented point guard.

Each is looking for a point guard to lead them into the future and there is an obvious personnel fit at all of them. Additionally, there does not seem to be a favored destination at this point, making it very difficult to determine Curbelo’s eventual landing spot. This makes Curbelo’s recruitment one of the most interesting in the country despite the lack of blueblood involvement.

Curbelo will be a major impact guard no matter where he plays college ball. His playmaking is tremendous and he does a nice job picking his spots as a scorer as well. There is definite room for improvement with regards to his 3-point shooting but he does an impeccable job fooling defenders with pass fakes and consistent ball-handing. His skill level is only continuing to increase but he also already brings plenty of great qualities for a collegiate point guard.

Even though there has not been a ton of information released regarding his recruitment, his list cut showcases the current favorites. Now, without any further ado, let’s dive deeper into his final five and analyze his potential fit at each.
