Albany Basketball: In-depth look at star guard Cameron Healy
By Bryan Mauro
Expectations for Healy in 2019-20
Albany enters the season in a tough spot. They have the majority of their team coming back including senior and team leader Ahmad Clark. Clark was able to form a dynamic duo with Healy. Those two accounted for almost half of the scoring for the Great Danes a season ago. With those two players returning along with the third-leading scorer Antonio Rizzuto, the Great Danes have a positive outlook heading into next season.
It is almost common knowledge at this point that the America East is home to a team who is responsible for the biggest upset in the NCAA tournament history. UMBC and Vermont are the two team who have dominated this conference for the last few seasons. Albany belongs in that conversation as one of the best teams in the conference most years. This year should be more of the same especially with the talent they have returning on the roster.
Individually for Healy, it should be expected to continue to ascend the career scoring chart for the Great Danes and take down more records. The guard will be in the conversation for one of the five spots on the all-conference team. He is going to have a hard time capturing the Player of the Year crown especially with players like Anthony Lamb at Vermont.
Healy has a chance when his career finally comes to end to be one of the best scorers the school has ever seen. The Australian is just scratching the surface of his potential legacy.
