Duke Basketball: Impact of commitment from Henry Coleman
Henry Coleman recently announced his commitment to Duke basketball. How might his decision impact the Blue Demons and the other contenders?
Duke basketball is back with yet another commitment. Over the past few years, the Blue Devils have emerged as the clear-cut top team on the recruiting trail and they already boast the No. 2 overall 2020 class in the nation. The most recent addition to this group is Henry Coleman. Ranked as the No. 40 overall player in the class, Coleman is a 6-foot-6 power forward that had long been rumored to be a Duke lean.
With regards to his playing style, Coleman is a well-built frontcourt player with a bright future. He brings a physical frame to the table and uses his strength to consistently carve out space in the paint. Coleman also plays with a uniquely high motor. This, coupled with his strength, allows Coleman to be one of the better rebounders and defenders in this recruiting class. He is also quite athletic with the ability to excel at multiple positions. There is room for development with regards to his offensive game but he will be an impact player at the collegiate level.
Even though this commitment was expected, it is still a big deal for Duke basketball. The Blue Devils were already off to a tremendous start with this 2020 recruiting class but landing a frontcourt prospect like Coleman fills a valuable need. He is bound to be a strong contributor for the Blue Devils but this decision also had an impact on the others involved in this battle.
