Dambrot returns nearly his entire roster from last season

There are many reasons for fans of Duquesne to be excited, not only do they return nine contributors from last season, four of them are starters and not one of them is a senior. The only key cog they must replace is a big one, guard Eric Williams, Jr. who was the team’s leading scorer and rebounder with 14 points and 7.6 rebounds last season decided to transfer to Oregon.

Carry averaged 12 points, 3.6 rebounds, and team-highs in assists (5.8) and steals (2.4). The 6’1 sophomore is poised for a breakout season for the Dukes, and joining him in the backcourt is Frankie Hughes, a 6’4 junior from Ohio who started in 22 of his 32 appearances netting nine points. The rest of the guards returning are Tavian Dunn-Martin, a 5’8 junior and Lamar Norman, Jr. who is a 6’3 sophomore guard from Michigan, the duo combined for 12 points per game and Norman, Jr. was one of the team’s better three-point shooters, knocking down 37% of his attempts.

The frontcourt returns two juniors and two sophomores. Marcus Weathers averaged 10 points and 6.4 rebounds as a sophomore and shot 49% from the field and Austin Rotroff is a 6’10 big man played 13 minutes per game off the bench as a freshman, before suffering an ACL tear, ending his season. Michael Hughes was the team’s center, at 6’8 240lbs who averaged 11 points and is the Dukes’ top returning rebounder at 6.5 per game, where he struggles is, at the line where he shot just 59% on a team-high 129 attempts. The last rotational forward is 6-9 Amari Kelly who averaged 10 minutes per game in his 29 appearances as a freshman.
