The newcomers will have to be impactful for Creighton

As mentioned, Mitchell had a successful trip to Australia and the 6’0 freshman from Omaha who played last season at Sunrise Christian Academy in Kansas. He is one of two freshmen that McDermott brings in this season, the other, also a guard is 6’5 shooting guard Jalen Windham from Indianapolis, who comes to Creighton with the reputation for being a shot-maker.

McDermott also welcomes two transfers, one is a grad transfer and the other is eligible after sitting out last season. Kelvin Jones is a 6’11 230lb. grad transfer who played at Idaho State and averaged 9.9 points and 5.6 rebounds last season while shooting 55% from the field, giving the Bluejays who can score on the inside to complement Creighton’s perimeter game.

Denzel Mahoney is a 6’5 junior swingman who played his first two seasons at Southeast Missouri State of the Ohio Valley. As a sophomore Mahoney was 2nd in the OVC in scoring at 19.3 per game he also grabbed five rebounds and added 1.3 assists per game as a sophomore in 2017-18. Not only is Creighton guard-heavy, but that depth is quality depth which makes them a dangerous team because opponents can’t rest when the starters hit the bench.
