Oklahoma State Basketball: 2019-20 season preview for Cowboys
The Cowboys return all of their starters
For Boynton, the only significant losses for the Cowboys are, guard Curtis Jones who averaged 22 minutes per game with eight points and three rebounds as a senior and Michael Weathers and his 9.2 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists were dismissed from the program after 16 games due to off-the-court issues, he has since landed at Texas Southern. The other members of the program that played in more than 10 games that won’t be returning are guard Luke Major and forwards Duncan Demuth (transferred to Vermont) and Maurice Calloo (transferred to Cleveland State).
The good news is that the starting five from last season returns in full, led by the three seniors, forward Cameron McGriff and guards Thomas Dziagwa and Lindy Waters III. Those three combined for 36.2 points and 14.7 rebounds per game, and Dziagwa and Waters III were deadly from beyond the arc, making over 43% of their attempts. Sophomores Yor Anei and Isaac Likekele finish out the five, the summer was a big one for Likekele who was a member of Team USA at the FIBA U19 World Cup where they won gold.
The experience was a definite positive for the 6-4 Likekele who nearly had a double-double in the title game with nine points and 10 rebounds. He did a little bit of everything when on the floor, averaging 8.4 points, 5.9 rebounds, three assists and 1.7 steals in the tournament.
