Overall season outlook

Gonzaga definitely has some weaknesses this year. It is never easy to replace the amount of talent that the program lost this offseason and, while there is plenty of talent arriving, this team is going to be very young and inexperienced. Those issues cannot simply be overlooked by referencing the program’s consistent level of success for the past several seasons. It is reasonable to expect that the Bulldogs will suffer through some struggles early in the year before hitting their stride.

On the whole, though, Gonzaga should be in for yet another strong campaign. Despite their youth, this is an extremely talented team and Coach Few is one of the best leaders in the country. The Bulldogs might not be a preseason national title contender, but they might reach that level by the end of the season. This coaching staff does an exceptional job developing talent and adjusting schemes to fit their roster. Gonzaga will improve over the course of the season as their freshmen become more acquainted with the college game.

While Gonzaga’s incoming recruiting class will be a major part of this coming season, Killian Tillie’s health might be the most important factor to consider regarding their ceiling as a team. The Bulldogs’ frontcourt projects as one of the best in the entire nation but Tillie will be their leader. If he is forced to miss significant time due to injury, that could greatly affect the team’s potential.

There are definitely many factors to consider regarding Gonzaga’s prospects for this season but they should be a top-tier team in the nation. Watch for the Bulldogs to once again perform at an elite level while managing to win yet another WCC title.
