Penn State Basketball: 2019-20 season preview for Nittany Lions
This could be one of Chambers’ best teams
November will be a challenging month to open the season for PSU, they travel to Georgetown and host Bucknell and Yale back-to-back before traveling to New York to take part in the NIT Season Tip-Off against Ole Miss and either Oklahoma State or Syracuse. December starts with a home game against Wake Forest, before kicking off league play against Ohio State and Maryland. They finish up the month and non-conference play with three home games against Alabama, Central Connecticut State, and Cornell.
As I said 2019-20 could be a very important one for both Penn State and Pat Chambers, because there is some postseason buzz surrounding this team as the season begins. While they do have the talent to make the NCAA Tournament, a lot of things have to go right for them for that to happen.
First and foremost, Watkins has to stay healthy and develop into the major interior force some believe he can be. Then guys like Myreon Jones, Harrar, Buttrick, and Wheeler must be more productive in increased roles and the team must stay healthy because the reserves don’t have a ton of experience, especially in the frontcourt. Thrusting them into bigger roles due to injury could be disastrous.
