4. Towson

2018-2019 Record – 10-22 (6-12) – 9th in CAA

Last season was a pretty rough year for Towson as a whole. They didn’t make shots at all three levels and struggled to make plays for others. Against high-level across the CAA, they struggled to keep up. After all, having only two Seniors and seven Freshmen on your roster can be problematic over the course of a whole season. Of course, the flip-side of that issue is the internal growth the Tigers were able to develop through the season. The results of throwing a young group into the fire can be tough to watch, but the results down the road could be promising.

Towson’s three leading scorers last season were all Juniors, and all opted to stay in the Towson program this season. Having two lead Guards in Brian Fobbs and Tobias Howard, along with forward Nakye Sanders be senior leaders after such high usage in previous years will be a great foundation. They also bring in San Diego transfer Forward Juwan Gray into the program who gives even more experience along with a full year of playing in their system. The size that he brings, along with Sanders, leading rebounder Dennis Tunstall and lengthy Solomon Uyaelunmo will cement Towson as one of the most physically imposing teams in the CAA.

With many of the teams in the league taking an outside shooting approach with their rosters, Towson is completely flipping the script with their size. They were already one of the best offensive rebounding teams in the league last year, and it shouldn’t be overly difficult to reach similar numbers this year. They still have to improve on their shooting, and depending on how the deep ball falls will be a large key this season. However, if the Tigers can find supplementary scoring behind Fobbs and Howard, a Top-4 finish in the CAA is entirely possible.
