A-10 Basketball is set to be much more competitive than it was last season, and there are more than a couple of teams that could potentially cut down the nets in March.

Before writing this article, I sat down and evaluated every team in the A-10 Basketball extensively as far as their returning and incoming talent, any staffing or cultural changes that could affect morale, and, finally, their respective schedules. Once I had finished going through each game I was able to give each team a final A10 record, and those are what formed the basis of the following tiers. I decided to forego numerical rankings in favor of tiers to allow some for some movement within each of them, but they are a general indication of how competitive I project each team to be.

As far as what each tier indicates, take this as a key of sorts heading into the article:

Tier 1: Heavyweight title contenders

Tier 2: Darkhorse contenders

Tier 3: The middle of the pack

Tier 4: The bad teams

Tier 5: The awful teams

It’s important to note that a team’s placement in a certain tier has to do with a multitude of factors. I might have liked the talent on paper of a certain team in one tier more than that of a team in the tier above them, but if their schedule is much, much more difficult, than I would have projected them to lose more games. For those who are frustrated and had been hoping for specific rankings next to each team, the ordering within the tiers is based on my projected standings after going through the schedules game by game.

With all of that said, here are your A10 preseason power rankings:
