WAC Basketball may not be a powerhouse, even by mid-major standards, but there is still plenty of talent spread out among the 10 teams.

WAC Basketball may be known primarily as the conference New Mexico State has to get through before inevitably earning a 12 or 13 seed in the NCAA tournament, but steady growth from Grand Canyon and Seattle University have started to put this conference on the fringes of national relevancy.

While the Aggies are still the frontrunner, as they should be, the Antelopes and the Redhawks have plenty of talent on their respective rosters, and could at least give them some trouble in the regular season.

The WAC would have even more juice had Utah Valley not lost their head coach and their best player to the nearby Cougars of BYU, which has sapped them of most of their momentum as they powered toward a potential NCAA tournament berth.

The rest of the conference is a hodgepodge of schools, most who just recently made the jump to D1 and who aren’t expected to be competitive in conference for at least a few seasons.

So it’s not too surprising that a list of the 10 best players in the conference is dominated by the top-heavy schools – although the No. 1 player on this list might surprise some people.
