Boston College Basketball looks to get back into the top 10 in the ACC for 2019-20. What should be expected of the Eagles?

Boston College Basketball looks to have a better year this upcoming season. After finishing the 2018-19 season with a 14-17 record, 11th in the ACC last year with an 5-13 conference record, the Eagles look to crack the top 10 in the ACC. Jim Christian, who enters his 6th year as head coach of the Eagles, will have some challenges down the line. With Ky Bowman leaving for the NBA, there will be questions of who will step-up to lead the Eagles this season.

The Eagles return Nik Popovic, Jairus and Jared Hamilton, Wynston Tabbs, and Steffon Mitchell. Boston College also adds graduate transfer Derryck Thornton, who comes from USC after two years with the Trojans. Thornton played his freshman year at Duke, then deciding to transfer to USC after the season concluded.

Out of five returners for the Eagles, Popovic is the team’s leading scorer. Popovic was 2nd on the team last year with 14.5 ppg. Popovic also averaged 7.2 rpg, shot 52.6% from the field, and was 71.4% from the free throw line. With being 6’11, Popovic will be one of the go-to-guys in the post. Popovic will also be one of the leaders as being one of two seniors on the team.
