NCAA Basketball: 25 most mesmerizing players of all time

NCAA Basketball is filled with many talented players who tend to really grab the spotlight. These guys were the best at it.

Taking a look and creating a list based on the most mesmerizing players in NCAA basketball history is a very difficult project to work on. Besides having to search through over 100 years of history, there had to be a thought process separating those who really knew how to shine in the spotlight.

The list easily could have been 50+ players long based on the history of NCAA Basketball, many players worthy of a mention were lost to the culling of the herd. For instance, recent Alabama point guard Collin Sexton was widely known for having an abrasive personality on the court, often getting into his opponent’s head and driving them half-mad. He also led Alabama with 40 points in a game where the Tide was forced to play 3 on 5 against another top 25 team, and they almost won.

Bobby Hurley, who at one time was the face of both the most popular and the most hated program in the country, did not make the list either. However, if one brings up that Hurley belongs on this list for reason XYZ, there wouldn’t have been an argument other than: “Who would you take off?”

Finally, you will not find the greatest of all time on this list. Michael Jordan, was a great college player, and he made “the shot” against Georgetown, but he didn’t become the polarizing figure we all know and love until he arrived at the next level.

Keep in mind, this is a list, not a ranking. In the past, the number next to the name becomes the topic instead of the name itself. This is a list intended to inspire trips down memory lane, not who was ranked higher or lower.

The other aspect of this list is that there are players on here that some people may not find to be all that mesmerizing, while those players may be remembered fondly by others depending on age and geography.
