player. 532. . . . Marshall Henderson.

The nation had Fredette, the Golden Boy, from 2008-2011, after that, the universe pulled the ‘ole overcorrection and blessed everyone with Marshall Henderson. Henderson was an entirely different animal. What he lacked in pure scoring ability he made up with drama.

The Texas native began his career at the University of Utah and head coach Jim Boylen. He was the second-leading scorer as a freshman at 11.8 points per game but abruptly left the program after one season, saying he wanted to be closer to home. He was also quoted as saying “Coach Boylen’s program also has certain rules and restrictions that don’t necessarily fit my individualism.”

He ended up back in the state of Texas with the Red Raiders of Texas Tech. He never appeared however as head coach Pat Knight was fired after the 2010-11 season. At some point in 2010, Henderson was also charged with forgery, using counterfeit cash to buy weed.

The charge required him to be drug tested periodically and in 2012 when he failed one, he was forced to spend 25 days in jail. It was reported he tested dirty for the trifecta: Cocaine, marijuana, and booze.

After a season at South Plains Junior College and a Player of the Year award, he ended up at Ole Miss where he proceeded to aggravate, antagonize, troll and frustrate everyone from players to fans, to sideline reporter Erin Andrews.

He was a super talented kid (20ppg at Ole Miss) who played with a chip on his shoulder the size of the rock of Gibraltar. He was the 2012-13 SEC rookie of the year and a 2x All Second Team SEC member.

Henderson was TMZ’s dream come true. Forgery, weed, coke, booze, jail, four programs in five years, and on top of all of that, he could ball out while being a complete jerk.
