The 2019-20 season is approaching. Which programs seem likely to compete for the NCAA Tournament? Here is our final preseason bracketology field.

A new NCAA basketball season is on the horizon. With only a couple of weeks remaining until the opening tip of the upcoming campaign, it is time to seriously begin previewing the top teams in the country. Months and months of offseason content are now coming to a close as all 353 Divison-1 teams will finally take the court to show off their skills in the near future. Preseason bracketology may look foolish by the end of the year, but it is simply a set of predictions to ignite some debate and excitement about the coming campaign.

At this point, no resumes have been built and therefore every single program in the nation can realistically have their sights set on reaching the NCAA Tournament. While there are definitely some preseason favorites to take home the national championship, there are bound to be surprises throughout the season. Some teams emerge on the national scene with impressive non-conference performances while highly-rated teams from the offseason scuffle out of the games and fall out of the spotlight.

It is reasonable to assume that blueblood programs will once again post strong seasons but there is a high level of uncertainty regarding the rest of the country. That is what makes college basketball one of the most engaging sports in the country. Even though there are only so many programs that have won titles in recent years, the allure of the single-elimination Big Dance lies in its unpredictability. It’s never easy to make the NCAA Tournament and it’s even harder to win six straight games against the toughest competition in the country once arriving.

Now, without any further ado, let’s put some predictions on the line in this final edition of my preseason bracketology. (Note: This will be my fifth season posting my projected brackets. Check out The Bracket Project for more predictions of the 2019-20 season.)
