Indiana Basketball: 2019-20 season preview for the Hoosiers
Indiana basketball has missed the NCAA Tournament in its two seasons under head coach Archie Miller. Will that change during this coming campaign?
Indiana basketball is in need of a resurgence. The Hoosiers have missed the NCAA Tournament in each of the last three years and have not made a significant run in March since 2002. The proud basketball program has fallen into some years of mediocrity and the hope is that head coach Archie Miller will be able to return IU to national prominence.
Coach Miller is entering his third year at the helm in Bloomington and he has compiled just a 35-31 (17-21 B1G) record with the program. With that said, though, it might be important to mention that he missed the NCAA Tournament in his first two seasons with Dayton as well before taking the A-10 squad dancing in the following four years.
Expectations are not especially high for the Hoosiers this season following the departures of Juwan Morgan (graduation) and Romeo Langford (NBA) but there is still plenty of depth and intrigue. Those two were the offensive leaders for Indiana last season and the scheme will look a lot different without them.
Coach Miller will likely look for a balanced attack as the 2019-20 roster lacks a go-to scorer. Nonetheless, the Hoosiers still project as a very solid defensive team and consistently getting stops is what could carry them to a strong season.
Now, without any further ado, let’s take a deeper dive into Indiana for this coming campaign. This season preview will break down the Hoosiers’ projected starters, key reserves, storylines to watch, schedule, and overall outlook. Here we go.
