What crazy things could happen during the upcoming Big 12 basketball season? Here are three bold predictions for the conference in 2019-20.

Big 12 basketball is consistently one of the best and deepest conferences in the country. Over half the teams routinely earn NCAA Tournament bids on an annual basis, a sign that anything can happen on any given night.

This year will be no different. Kansas, Baylor, and Texas Tech are all ranked in the preseason top 25 with Texas, West Virginia, Iowa State, and Oklahoma State all having high expectations as well.

All that depth can lead to some crazy unexpected results. Last year was a prime example of this as Kansas, the preseason No. 1 team in the country, had their streak of 14 consecutive conference regular-season titles snapped by Kansas State and Texas Tech. The Red Raiders, picked to finish 7th in the Big 12, ended up in the national championship game.

There doesn’t appear to be the same number of elite teams in the conference this year (then again, we didn’t think there would be last year, either) but there are a few potential breakout teams and players that could create chaos in the ranks.
