Key #3 – FREE THROWS

The Redhawks went 14-19 from the free-throw line during their first game (73.7%). If the Redhawks get to the free-throw line, they are going to have to knock them down. The question is, can they draw the fouls to get them to the line. If they can’t draw fouls, then they will not get many attempts at the line.

If the Redhawks can drive to the lane and initiate contact, the chances of getting a foul called will be in their favor. If I were a coach for the Redhawks, I would be asking my guys to be shooting free throws before and after practice. That would be the first thing I do and the last thing I do. Free throws, in my opinion, are the most important shots in a basketball game. They are a game-changer.

It’s a team effort. It cannot be just Terrell Brown knocking down free throws, it’s going to have to be the whole team helping and making an effort. Guys like Myles Carter, Trey’von Hopkins, and Delante Jones will need to produce and knock down free throws. This will be what can decide a W or L for the Redhawks.
