Key #2 – Post Scoring

The Buckeyes will have to look to the post to get some buckets for them throughout the game. Villanova is a great defensive team and the Buckeyes will need to be able to have their post to be able to score and be a factor throughout the game. The post players are a big part of any team because they have the height to be able to rebound the ball, run the floor in transition, and are able to shot block and cause the opposing team’s offense to crumble so if the Buckeyes can get out quick in the first few minutes, that will get Villanova nervous and cause them to make mistakes early on.

If the post is not able to score as much as they’d like too, they need to be able to set screens for the guards to be able to drive to the paint and score. Screens cause teammates to get open and make the defenders have to slow down for a half-second to get around the screen.

Ohio State is big enough to be considered “brick walls”, so if the Buckeyes can execute through this, if it’s through post scoring or screens, then do not be surprised to see the Buckeyes get ahead of the Wildcats.
