Georgetown Basketball hosts Penn State in this Big East/Big Ten match-up for the Gavitt Games. What are the keys for the Hoyas to win?

Georgetown Basketball has struggled in its last two games. They only won by 13 points their first game and 11 points their second game. The Hoyas were picked to finish in the middle of the pack in conference play. Georgetown has done good with Patrick Ewing as their head coach, but they are looking to improve and grab a key victory against Penn State.

They opened up the season against Mount St. Mary’s and won 81-68. The Mount led by 19 at the under 16-minute media timeout, but Georgetown was able to fight and come back and end the game on a 20-1 run to secure the victory. The Hoyas then hosted Central Arkansas and won 89-78 and grabbed a crucial victory. After two games, people still are doubting Georgetown on being good, but if they can regather themselves, I can see them being competitive in the Big East.

Over the past few years, Georgetown has not done the best in scheduling non-conference games, so this is huge if they can pull out a win against the Nittany Lions. The Hoyas have lots of talent on their roster in Jamorko Pickett, Mac McClung, and Omer Yurtseven. Pickett is a lengthy big who can grab key rebounds for the Hoyas. McClung is a great shooter who poses as a triple threat. Yurtseven is a big forward who is a brick wall when setting screens and can get to the rim. All 3 of these guys can help Georgetown make the leap to getting back to making NCAA Tournament appearances.
