Gonzaga basketball (somehow) had its doubters heading into this season. What were some of the biggest takeaways from the Bulldogs’ domination of Texas A&M?

Gonzaga basketball started its 2019-20 campaign with a trio of “tune-up” games against low-major opponents. And while the Bulldogs absolutely dominated those teams by an average of 37.3 points per game, it was difficult to draw any conclusions from those performances. The talent disparity was simply way too evident. In their fourth game of the year, though, Gonzaga tested itself with a true road contest against a high-major opponent in the Texas A&M Aggies.

To put it simply, the team passed with flying colors.

After falling behind 14-11 after the first nine minutes of the contest, Gonzaga locked in on the defensive end of the floor by holding Texas A&M without a made field goal for the next several minutes. That resulted in a massive 20-0 run by the Bulldogs as they clicked on both ends of the floor and never looked back from there. By the time the final buzzer sounded after 40 minutes of play, the scoreboard displayed a 30-point advantage in favor of the Bulldogs.

535. Final. 79. 541. 49

Gonzaga has traditionally been one of the best college basketball programs in the nation over the past several seasons. Even though it is still very early in the 2019-20 campaign, it appears as though the Bulldogs once again completely belong in the top-10 of the country. They are already well-known as a consistent offensive force under head coach Mark Few and it appears as though that trend is continuing despite massive offseason losses in Spokane.

The Bulldogs absolutely eviscerated the Aggies over the final 31 minutes of this contest while simply throwing their weight around on both ends of the floor. Now that the game is complete, though, what were some of the biggest takeaways for Gonzaga? Let’s take a deeper dive.
