Another week of NCAA basketball is complete and there were plenty of eye-opening results. Which teams found a spot in our updated power rankings?

Another week of NCAA basketball action is complete and it was certainly an exciting one. With Kentucky falling to Evansville, the biggest upset of the entire season might have already occurred and there were also a bunch of other surprising results as well. As one would expect this early in the season, just about every team in the nation has already showed some of their biggest strengths and weaknesses. Fewer than 75 undefeated teams in the country remain and somehow Delaware and DePaul are the nation’s leaders in total wins so far (5 each).

The 2019-20 season is off to an incredibly exciting start and that has meant several radical shifts in the edition of the top-25 power rankings. With the preseason (Michigan State) and the Week 1 top teams (Kentucky) both losing in their respective weeks atop the rankings, does anyone really want to take the No. 1 spot? At this point, it appears as though Louisville and Duke are the two main contenders for that spot as the ACC teams continue to jockey for position heading into league play in the near future. But will whoever snags the top spot still be there in a week from now? Recent history says “no”.

In addition to the expected movement at the top of these rankings thanks to Kentucky, there were several shifts further down in the list as well. Many teams at the fringe of the rankings suffered early-season losses, opening the door for newcomers to crack the rankings. Additionally, as much as I wanted to put Vermont in the mid-major spotlight once again, I think it is pretty obvious which team is holding down that spot this week.

Now, without any further ado, let’s dive into the updated top-25 power rankings following Week 2 of the NCAA basketball season.
