The first few weeks of the 2019-20 season are complete and Big East basketball has been full of surprises. Where does each team sit in our rankings?

Big East basketball has endured a rather tumultuous opening stretch of the 2019-20 campaign. With a few big wins and some disappointing losses, it is hard to determine just how successful the conference will be this season. At this point, it does not feel as though there is a true national title contender in the bunch but several teams should be able to compete for NCAA Tournament bids. The depth of the league is quite impressive and that should continue into the near future.

Considering how jumbled the conference appeared to be in the preseason, just a few games by each team this early has been enough to seriously shake up the power rankings. That much was evident during the opening stretch of this season while both Butler and DePaul quickly asserted themselves as programs that could shatter their preseason expectations. Both teams remain undefeated through the first two weeks with a couple of nice wins to their name. This has rightfully caused a rise up the national and conference rankings, as a result.

Conference play is still a bit over a month away, but these teams are already jockeying for position in the power rankings. It is nearly impossible to sort the middle of the league at this moment and that is a great sign moving forward. The Big East might not boast a national title contender (yet) but it does look like possibly the most competitive and interesting league to follow in America moving forward. As of right now, KenPom lists the Big East as the second-most powerful conference in the country thanks to the presence of six teams in their metric-driven top-30.

Without any further ado, though, let’s dive into my Week 3 Power Rankings for the Big East. There might be a few surprises, but that is bound to happen with a sample size of just 3-5 games for each team.
