Busting Brackets Podcast: 2019-20 non-conference tournaments preview
The latest Busting Brackets Podcast takes place right before the start of the non-conference tournaments. Here’s a preview of what to expect.
Regular hosts Connor Hope and Brian Rauf are back with a new episode for the Busting Brackets Podcast. Before they even get started with the upcoming non-conference tournaments, the guys take a deep dive into the Florida Gators and their early struggles. From a preseason title contender to currently unranked, what are the team’s problems and how can they be solved going forward?
The guys take a look at the rest of the SEC, including an Auburn squad that has been a nice surprise so far. Who else in the conference has look good… or bad so far? Michigan State and the Big Ten also get a closer examination. Are the Spartans still the clear-cut frontrunner to win the league or have teams such as Ohio State and Maryland have just as good as a shot?
After getting shredded all of last season, Pac-12 Basketball is on the comeback! At least through the first couple of weeks this season. Are teams such as Arizona and Oregon legit Final Four contenders or do they have fatal flaws that could prevent special seasons? Connor talks about the top teams and players from the conference, along with his expectations moving forward.
The Big East and ACC were also brought up, citing how strong (or not) the respective leagues are from top to bottom, along with projecting potential NCAA Tournament bids. If the power conferences leave bids available, mid-majors such as BYU and Saint Mary’s could be the biggest beneficiary. Which of them has stepped up so far?
To round out the podcast episode, the guys preview the early non-conference tournaments starting up this week. That includes the Charleston Classic, 2K Empire Classic and a couple of others. The guys tell us which games they are most looking forward to and why. Thanks for tuning in to this episode and please stay tuned next week, where the guys recap what should be some great early tournament action.
