Butler basketball has started the 2019-20 season on a major hot streak. What should the Dawgs prioritize against Morehead State?

Butler basketball has been rolling to begin this season and the fanbase is buzzing. The Dawgs, who are yet to leave the friendly confines of Hinkle Fieldhouse this season, currently hold a 4-0 record that includes a pair of top-150 victories. Behind efficient play on both ends of the floor over the first two weeks of the season, the Dawgs’ record has remained blemish-free and the team has skyrocketed up to holding the No. 22 spot in KenPom as a result. They are also beginning to receive votes as a potential top-25 team in the nation.

With that said, though, a difficult stretch of the schedule begins in the near future with the Hall of Fame Classic taking place over Feast Week. Butler will face two high-major opponents in back-to-back days at the “neutral-site” event in Kansas City and that should offer an opportunity for the nation to really see what Butler is made of this year. Before jumping into the first games away from home this season, though, the Dawgs will take on Morehead State on Nov. 22nd in the last “tune-up” game for some time.

Even though Butler is likely to be heavily favored, this is not a game that the team can overlook. The Dawgs have looked great to begin this season because they have opened each contest with a strong gameplan and jumped out to an early advantage. The same will need to be the case for this matchup. Overlooking any opponent can prove to be a death sentence in college basketball, where anarchy ensues just about every single night.

So, with tip-off approaching, let’s dive a bit deeper into Butler’s matchup with Morehead State. This article will break down the Eagles as an opponent, some potential keys to success for the Dawgs, and a pregame edition of “Hark’s Bark”, which includes more notes heading into the contest. Let’s hop right in.
