UConn Basketball gains another quality win against a good Buffalo team in round one of the Charleston Classic, what can we take away from the Huskies big win?

I don’t think we expected the game against Buffalo to turn in to the Brendan Adams show but man did he have a huge game off the bench for UConn Basketball. Hurley put his faith in the sophomore guard and he delivered in a big way in UConn’s 79-68 win against Buffalo in the first round of the Charleston Classic.

A nice win over a Buffalo team that will be vying for the MAC bid come March. These are the games that UConn needs to win if they want to go dancing this year. A lot of questions were being asked about how they would respond following their big win in the prior weekend to then ranked #15 Florida. Were the Huskies legit?

The Huskies kept pace early and were finally able to force Buffalo into some poor shots, Buffalo struggled to find their touch for most of the night partly because of UConn’s better defensive effort. Brendan Adams finished with a career-high 20 points. Vital chipped in 16, Josh Carlton added 12 and Akok Akok 11 respectively. A total team effort for UConn who had four double-digit scorers.

UConn will face Xavier in the second round of Charleston, Xavier took care of Towson in the early session of games and will be lead by Naji Marshall. UConn has a chance to add another quality win to their resume but first, we’ll review the game against Buffalo and look at what the Huskies did well with and need to improve.
