Baylor Basketball takes on the Villanova Wildcats in the finals of the Myrtle Beach Invitational. What are the keys for the Bears to take home the title?

The two best teams that participated in the 2019 Myrtle Beach Invitational have made it to the finals. No. 24 rank Baylor Basketball will be facing off against the No. 17 ranked Villanova Basketball after each faced some tough challenges in the semifinals.

It was expected for the Wildcats since they were taking on a talented Mississippi State squad. However, it was supposed to be easy for the Bears once Utah, their presumed opponent, was upset by Coastal Carolina the night before. Turned out, the Chanticleers remained hot and had Baylor down double-digits in the first half, leading by a couple of points at the mid-point.

Second-half adjustments and a better effort from the favorites allowed them to take control, going on a 30-8 mega run to, eventually outscoring Coastal Carolina by 14 to win the game, 77-65. Macio Teague led all scorers with 21 points, with Davion Mitchell chipping in with 15. Despite giving up over 50% shooting from the field, the Bears did force 22 turnovers (scored 19 off of them) to help with the comeback.

Baylor better be careful coming out slow against Villanova on Sunday though because the Wildcats won’t let them make the same kind of comeback. In what should be a competitive game for nearly 40 minutes, here are some keys for the Bears to leave the Myrtle Beach Invitational with the trophy.
