After a solid showing from UConn Basketball in the Charleston Classic, what were the biggest takeaways for the Huskies?

A great weekend for UConn Basketball in Charleston saw the Huskies fall in the semi-finals in heartbreaking fashion to #18 Xavier in double overtime. The Huskies would rebound on Sunday in a blow out win against Miami Florida to finish the week 2-1, UConn beat a solid Buffalo team in the first round earlier in the week.

We learned a lot about this UConn team, coming off their big home win against a slumping Florida the weekend before, there were a lot of uncertainties about whether or not UConn would actually be any good. UConn made their statement that they shouldn’t be taken lightly and certainly looked capable of earning an NCAA tournament birth as well as a contender in the AAC.

A Thursday night game against Buffalo saw UConn in a close one before pulling away early in the second half and keeping Buffalo at bay for the rest of the game. Brendan Adams was the hero for the game with his career-high 20 off the bench, he was stellar in that game and is primed to have a nice year for the Huskies.

Friday night was a late one where UConn looked like they were in control and primed to win before a late Naji Marshall three from close to the logo forced overtime. UConn looked out of it before a huge basket from Bouknight to send it to double OT. It was heartbreak for UConn as Bouknight put UConn ahead with 21 seconds to go but a rough reach-in foul put Xavier at the line to win the game. Bouknight had a team-high 19 points

A dominating performance on Sunday for the third and final game of the Charleston Classic saw UConn dismantle Miami in an impressive 25 point win. Carlton led the Huskies with 16 points in a balanced effort from UConn.

Hopefully, Uconn uses this week as momentum and learns from the experience. Let’s look at some of the biggest takeaways for UConn from their trip to Charleston.
