The first month of the season is almost over, which makes it a good time to make some observations. Here are five thoughts on the Pac-12 Basketball’s first month.
In the blink of an eye, the first month of the college basketball season is behind us. It seems like just yesterday the Champions’ Classic was tipping off, and now we are about a month away from the start of league play. Now is a good time to look back at the first month’s action and see what we can take away from it.
November 2019 has been a night-and-day in comparison to the November that Pac-12 Basketball endured in 2018. We all know what kind of first month the conference had last season and that snowballed the entire season, ending with just three teams in the tournament. Regular-season champ Washington was a No. 9 seed, tournament champ Oregon a No. 12 and Arizona State was one of the last teams in the field as an 11-seed.
This season, the conference has been light years better from top to bottom and on many different levels. Some think the conference is and could be by the end of the season, the deepest in America, not because the top teams are among the elite, but because the middle and the bottom of the conference is stronger than most of the power conferences.
With the calendar having turned, let’s look at what the Pac-12 has done to give the conference’s image a complete 180-degree turn. As I said, at least in the first month, from top to bottom the conference has improved and here are five takeaways from the Pac-12 in November.
