NBA Draft 2020: Seton Hall star guard Myles Powell’s draft stock rising
Pro comparison – Jamal Crawford
With his shot-making ability and limited physical profile, Powell projects closely to a Jamal Crawford type player at the next level. A scoring machine, three-time sixth man of the year, and somehow still a free agent, Jamal Crawford.
This may be a lofty comparison for Powell, but the similarities are there. Crawford has a few inches on Powell in terms of height, but both have less than ideal physical profiles and play below the rim.
Crawford, like Powell, came into the league with an elite skill. For him, it was his ball-handling, the other areas of his game were where he worked to improve.
Powell can be successful is he follows a similar path. His shooting is elite, and if he can catch up with the rest of his game to be solid enough, he should have a place in the league. For years, Crawford has been a guy who can come off the bench and absolutely light up second units or starters.
With Powell’s ability to make difficult shots, he may be able to do the same.
This comparison does not mean we should expect to see Powell make it to the league and be a perennial sixth man contender. However, it does signify that he has the talent to make it to the NBA.
There’s still a lot of season left to go, but so far Powell has put the college basketball world on notice, and front offices are starting to take notice too.
