Temple Basketball finished the Orlando Invitational with two wins to move to 6-1, what were the Owl’s biggest takeaways from this weekend?

What a nice way to cap off the Thanksgiving week for Temple Basketball as they concluded their holiday with a win over Davidson 66-53 on Sunday afternoon. That win pushes the Owls to an impressive 6-1 start and sees the Owls finish 2-1 in Orlando with their sole loss in a tightly contested affair with a top-five Maryland team.

In Aaron Mckie’s first year at the helm for the Owls through seven games, it’s clear to see he was the right hire. He bleeds Temple basketball and has the Owls in a great position to succeed in just his first season.

Temple started off their Orlando Invitational in a tough game with #5 Maryland, Temple really struggled to get anything going against the zone inside, but some lights out shooting in the first half from deep had the Terrapins on their heels for quite a bit of the game.

The shooting cooled off a little bit in the second half and Maryland was able to close the deal despite Temple’s best efforts. The Owls were in that game the entire way and the seven-point defeat might be a little harsh on the Owls after some late free throws from Maryland extended their slim lead.

A great rebound game against the Aggies of Texas A&M saw the Owls in complete control of the contest from the tip to finish winning by 23 points. Quinton Rose led the Owls with 19 points in a great defensive showing from Mckie’s team. In their final game in Orlando, after a struggle in the first half from Temple, the Owls were able to get ahead with a strong second half to knock off a Davidson team that many thought would be pretty good, the Owls were led by a near triple-double effort from Quinton Rose.
