Texas Tech Basketball: 2019-20 keys for Red Raiders to beat DePaul
Texas Tech Basketball is in a big need for a win. What do they need to do in order to beat a dangerous DePaul team?
When it came to the various non-conference tournaments last week, there were a number of different team winners and losers. Unfortunately for the fans from Lubbock, Texas Tech Basketball was on the “loser” side. The Red Raiders went from being ranked in the top-15 and the favorite heading into the Las Vegas Invitational to losing to both Iowa and Creighton to finish in last place.
Now unranked at 5-2 overall, Texas Tech is back to “underdog” status as a team. After winning five easy games, there’s a real possibility that they’ll lose four straight. After this matchup, the Red Raiders take on the current No. 1 team in the country in the Louisville Cardinals on December 10. That’s why getting a win over DePaul this Wednesday is so important for the team’s resume and psyche to get through December before entering Big 12 play.
The problem though is that this isn’t your normal Blue Demon squad. At 8-0, this is the best start for the program in decades. And it hasn’t come from just cupcakes, with wins over Boston College, Iowa and most recently, Minnesota. A combination of successful transfers and high-profile freshmen contributors have made DePaul as dangerous as they’ve been in recent times.
Add the fact that the game is in Chicago and you have a scenario that the Red Raiders are in real danger of going on a slide. To avoid that fate, here are some pivotal keys for Texas Tech to not only get back on the winning side but also gain what could be a quad-1 win for its resume.
