NBA Draft 2020: Evaluating UNC Basketball stand out freshman Cole Anthony

UNC Basketball freshman Cole Anthony’s name has been in NBA Draft circles for a long time, now the young phenom is putting his full talents on display for the world to see.

Cole Anthony’s name is not new to many in the college basketball world. He entered UNC Basketball after a touted high school career, he’s played for the Junior National Select USA squad, and he’s been displayed on prominent trainer Chris Brickley’s Instagram page on multiple occasions – either working out himself or playing pickup with the pros.

It has not been a surprise to see him lighting it up on the court through seven games with the Tar Heels. Anthony has put up impressive averages of 20.7 points per game, 7.3 rebounds, and 4.0 assists so far while putting his name at the top of draft boards.

What’s been a bit more troubling for Anthony has been his shooting percentages in the early portion of the season. The New York native has put up a shooting line of 39.3 percent from the field, 35.4 percent from three, and 69.6 percent from the line.

Those numbers are far from ideal, but the counter-argument could be made that Anthony is tasked with so many duties as the Tar Heels lead guy that it makes sense his numbers would take a hit.

There’s a ton of intrigue when it comes to Anthony’s game, and he provides a load of potential for NBA Front Offices to look at throughout the course of this season. Like any other NBA Draft prospect, he also comes with definite question marks.
