This past week was hectic for Big East basketball with several headlining results and some breaking news. Where does each team sit in the power rankings?

Big East basketball is off to a bit of a shaky start this season. After entering the year with hopes of nine teams competing for at-large bids to the NCAA Tournament, it already feels as though that number has shrunk significantly. Of course, there have been some positive surprises (looking at you, Butler and DePaul), but the league largely appears to be disappointing compared to preseason expectations. Nonetheless, the Big East is still one of the most exciting conferences to watch in the country and there are plenty of talented teams taking the court once again.

Over the course of this past week (since the last edition of the BE Power Rankings), two main stories made headlines for the conference. The first of these centers around Georgetown’s scandal, which has arguably been the biggest news story in all of college basketball for the past few days. Additionally, #RankDePaul is gaining more and more popularity. The Blue Demons currently sit at 9-0 on the season and are making steady movements up the national rankings – and that will be reflected later in this article as well.

Now that Feast Week is complete and the Big 12/Big East Challenge is in full swing, it appears as though another edition of the Big East Power Rankings is in order. For the most part, the conference performed at expectations over the course of this past week and there were not many shifts in the rankings as a result. With that said, though, Butler and DePaul once again proved that they are both worthy of moving up as they continue to be the lone undefeated teams in the league. They both have also secured their fair share of high-major wins as well.

Now, without any further ado, let’s dive into the Week 6 Big East Power Rankings (accounting for games played through Dec. 4).
