NCAA Basketball: Buffalo, DeAndre Williams top mid-major performers

Mid-Major Unbeatens Update
In lieu of the normal Best Mid-Major Matchup, we are going to take a look at the remaining unbeaten mid-major squads. There were no standout games this week, and we are down to only eight undefeated teams total, so I figured this would be a good time to analyze those squads.
Of the eight remaining teams with an unblemished record, two are mid-majors (San Diego State and Liberty) with a third quasi mid-major (Duquesne). I do not count the A10 as a mid-major league for the purposes of this column, so I will focus on the first two.
The Aztecs are 10-0 with zero ranked teams left on their schedule. They currently sit at 25th in the latest AP Poll, their first ranking of the season, and 24th in the Coaches Poll.
So far, their best wins have come at BYU and against Creighton and Iowa in Las Vegas. San Diego State is looking like a threat to get a top-five seed once the NCAA Tournament rolls around.
Liberty is 11-0 with the toughest stretch of their schedule coming up. They go to Vanderbilt on the 14th and LSU on the 29th as two of their final three non-conference outings. If they escape those two SEC venues with wins (the LSU game will be the harder test obviously), then the Flames will have a legitimate shot of going unbeaten because the ASUN is down this year.
Even if the Flames lose to LSU (and even Vanderbilt) Liberty will be in the at-large discussion. That is a long way away, but this team is already sparking those sort of thoughts with their smothering play.
