Guard Scoring

Payton Pritchard is one of the best point guards on the west coast, but also the country. He is going to do what he does and that is lead Oregon on both the offensive and defensive end. It is the other guards and their scoring that are going to be the difference in this game. Chris Duarte, Will Richardson, Anthony Mathis, and Addison Patterson. Those are the other guards who are going to see the lions share of the minutes for the Ducks. Each one of them has shown they can score at times. Not one of them outside of Pritchard has shown they can take over a game.

Michigan is going to do its best to take Pritchard out of the game as the point guard for Wolverines Zavier Simpson is one of the best defenders in the league as well. Who is going to pick up the scoring if Pritchard has an off night? Sophomore guard Will Richardson has the best ability to be the player who should be able to pick up the scoring. He is a great shooter and finisher near the rim. Since the Ducks will probably go small with Juiston being out Richardson should be on the floor for most of the game.

New Mexico transfer Anthony Mathis is the sharpshooter for the Ducks. Over 70% of his shots come from beyond the arc. Mathis makes half of his attempts from deep. Duarte was the National Junior College Player of the year a season ago. He has not shot the ball well for the Ducks but he is still dangerous. It is going to be all hands on deck in the backcourt for the shorthanded Oregon team.
