Gonzaga basketball once again put together a strong performance in a road win over Arizona. What were some of the biggest takeaways?

Gonzaga basketball lost a ton of talent this offseason and many experts were wary of placing the team too high in preseason rankings as a result. Yet, through the opening month of the season, the Bulldogs have proven that they always deserve the benefit of the doubt heading into each season as long as head coach Mark Few is roaming the sidelines. Despite needing to integrate several new pieces in the rotation this season, Gonzaga has started the year exceptionally well and that was once again evident in the team’s most recent performance.

On Dec. 14th, the Bulldogs traveled to the McKale Memorial Center in Tucson, AZ and took down nationally-ranked Arizona. Gonzaga seemingly dominated the entirety of the second half of the game as the team launched out to a 16-point lead before struggling in the final two minutes to only squeak out by two points. This victory marked Gonzaga’s third over the KenPom top-50 and they can boast wins over three of the main favorites to win the Pac-12: Oregon, Washington, and Arizona.

Gonzaga’s win over Arizona once again proved its worth as one of the best teams in the entire country. The Bulldogs deserve to be ranked in the top-10 and regarded as one of the favorites to win the national championship once again. They are well-balanced with the ability to dominate in the backcourt or in the paint as an offensive juggernaut. There are some areas for improvement, particularly defensively, but this team is ready for the big stage.

Now, to dive a bit deeper into Gonzaga’s most recent performance, here are my biggest takeaways from the team’s road win over Arizona.
