NCAA Basketball: 4 biggest takeaways from first set of 2019-20 NET rankings
NCAA Basketball released their first NET Rankings of the year on Monday and several teams were in surprising positions, here are the four biggest takeaways from the rankings.
This NCAA Basketball season has been incredibly bizarre, whether it be every number one ranked team dropping a game within a couple of weeks of getting the ranking, incredible upsets or more, this season is unlike any other we have seen in quite some time.
It is for that reason that we have seen some weird rankings, UNC is now out of the top-25 after dropping four of their last five games, Duke fell out of the top-five for the first time in what felt like forever and Michigan went from unranked to fourth in the nation in a single week.
These obviously aren’t the only crazy things to happen this season, but it is a snapshot into what has gone down this season which is complete and utter chaos. Because of this, the AP Top-25 has been completely different each and every week.
The longest we have seen a team at the top with the number one ranking was when Duke and Louisville each held the ranking for two weeks.
Other than that we saw Michigan State drop their first game of the season to Kentucky, then Kentucky lost at home to Evansville and last week Louisville fell at the hands of Texas Tech at home and now Kansas, a one-loss team, is ranked number one.
Nonetheless, the NET rankings were released on Monday and there were several surprises from the top-five, all the way through number 353. So with that being said, let’s take a look at the three biggest takeaways from the first NET rankings of the 2019-20 College Basketball season.
