3. North Carolina is 95th

The  North Carolina Tar Heels have been horrible, to say the least, this season and for the first time in quite a while, they have fallen out of the AP Top-25 and rightfully so, but according to the NET Rankings, they are the 95th best team in the nation, or 258th worst team, depending on how you look at it.

However, in my opinion, I think this might be too high. Think about it, they have lost four of their last five games, one of them to Wofford in Chapel Hill, a team ranked 152nd in the NET Rankings.

In addition to that, the Tar Heels will be without a guy who is undoubtedly their best player, Cole Anthony, indefinitely and according to some, there is a chance he sits out the rest of the season.

So if that is the case why is North Carolina even in the top-100? They have the 143rd ranked non-conference schedule, are 1-3 against quadrant one teams and hold an overall record of 6-4.

In my opinion, the only reason North Carolina is even in the top-150 is because of their win against Oregon who they beat 78-74 in the Battle 4 Atlantis. The Ducks are ranked 17th in the NET Rankings and are UNC’s only quadrant one win and also their only win in their last five games.

This is likely the only reason the Tar Heels are ranked where they are and not lower, but unfortunately for North Carolina, they have to play Gonzaga on Wednesday who is ranked sixth in the NET Rankings and second in the AP Poll.

At this point without Cole Anthony and Armando Bacot, one could only assume they would lose this game barring an incredible upset. With that in mind, UNC would undoubtedly drop out of the top-150 as they would have four losses in a row and five of their last six.

At this rate, UNC’s streak of tournaments made dating back to 2011, appears to be in a lot of trouble.
