Stanford Basketball hosts the San Francisco Dons on Tuesday.  What are the keys for the Cardinal to continue their winning ways?

When the schedules first came out, San Francisco at Stanford Basketball seemed like a pretty even match up.  The Cardinal were expected to finish near the bottom of the Pac-12, while the Dons were placed in the top half of the West Coast Conference.

Now, in mid-December, Stanford (9-1) has become the favorite over USF (9-2).  The Cardinal are on a roll and currently ranked at #49 in KenPom’s ranking, with their best win coming over #42 Oklahoma 73-42 at the Hall of Fame Classic on Nov. 25.  Unfortunately, Stanford dropped a tough game 68-67 the next night in Kansas City to #12 Butler in a game that Stanford led by seven, midway through the second half.

While coach Jerod Haase’s club has raised eyebrows around the Pac-12, the Dons have been coming together under first-year head coach, Todd Golden.  With a softer schedule, USF has found success early with an 84-79 over #85 Yale on Veterans Day.  More recently, a measuring stick for the Dons was a split at home against Pac-12 opponents on Dec. 3rd and 4th.  USF lost to Arizona State 71-67 before defeating Cal the following night 76-64.

USF will be traveling the 40 miles to Maples Pavilion where the Cardinal is 7-0.  The Dons are 2-1 in road games this season.  Tip-off will be at 6 p.m. and will be televised on the Pac-12 Networks.

Stanford is out to prove they are for real.  To do so, the Cardinal must excel in the following areas…
