2. The Irish need to get the most out of their offensive trips

Notre Dame is tied for the top spot in the country when it comes to protecting the ball, they turn the ball over just 9.7 times per game. Indiana conversely forces just over 14 turnovers per game which means the Fighting Irish should be able to maximize the possessions they have and have to get the most out of every possession.

The Irish have averaged 76 points per game and their tempo has been middle-of-the-road this season ranking 194th in adjusted tempo on KenPom.com. What this means is that Notre Dame will likely not have an abundance of possessions relative to what they usually have so they will have to treat every offensive possession like they treat the basketball, like it is gold. Another reason Notre Dame must maximize their success on every possession is that they shoot the ball at just 42% from the field, so they must work to make sure they get the best shot possible every time they have the ball.

Notre Dame doesn’t necessarily have to be as methodical as they have been in the past when Brey ran his “burn” offense, but it will be vital for them to be as efficient on offense during every possession as possible in order to come away with a win over Indiana.
