Duke Basketball: Rotation Breakdown for Blue Devils from Wofford game
Duke Basketball has had five players record at least 20 points in a game this season and the 2019-20 squad could potentially be the deepest Duke team we have ever seen. So let’s take a look at what the rotation should look like.
On Thursday night Joey Baker became the fifth different Duke Basketball player to record at least 20 points in a game this season as he went for a career-high 22. Interestingly enough, despite the fact that Baker has recorded double-digit points three separate times this season, he hasn’t had the chance to start yet.
Last season Baker played only 18 total minutes for Duke as his redshirt was burned in February against Syracuse. Now he has proven that he is more than capable of playing significant minutes for Duke and deserves a chance to start.
The Blue Devils used their seventh different starting lineup on Thursday night in the absence of Tre Jones who sat out due to what was described as a ‘mild foot sprain.’ However, after the game Coach K said Jones would’ve played had Thursday’s game been against an ACC opponent.
This means that Jones will be back when Duke takes on Brown on the 28th and after Baker’s breakout game against the Wofford Terriers, this might be the eighth different starting lineup in 12 games.
The question is, who would be apart of that starting lineup and also who would get minutes off the bench?
Let’s take a look at the breakdown of who would get time off the bench and who would start:
