LAS VEGAS, NEVADA – MARCH 16: The Mountain West Conference (Photo by David Becker/Getty Images) /

Mountain West Basketball has been full of surprises so far in the 2019-20 season. What should be expected for the rest of the way?

Coming into this season, there was a clear-cut frontrunner for the title of Mountain West Basketball’s best team. Returning their best players, Utah State was expected to be a quality program that not many teams could beat. And for the most part, the Aggies have been as good as advertised.

Yet still, it’s been the San Diego State Aztecs that has taken both the conference, NCAA Basketball, by storm. One of just two unbeaten teams left (Auburn), San Diego State is the team to beat as the teams get into the heart of conference play. They haven’t been the only surprise though, with teams such as New Mexico, Colorado State and others performing above expectations.

The Mountain West tends to be unpredictable starting in the new year, with a lot of unanswered questions at the moment. So I decided to enlist the help of some Busting Brackets writers who closely pay attention to the mid-major power league. For this roundtable, I asked these following contributors five questions about what to expect going forward:

Connor Hope – @CondorianFM

Jacob Salcido – @LoboSauce_777

John Vaccaro – @captainWOP

Matthew Winnick – @MatthewWinick

Thanks to these guys for their answers and check out their social media for more Mountain West/cbb content. Here are each of their answers to my burning questions for the conference for the rest of the season.
