The non-conference portion of the 2019-20 NCAA Basketball season has brought us plenty of surprises. Which teams have surprised us by underachieving so far?

One of the things that makes NCAA Basketball so much fun is the unpredictability factor that accompanies it. No matter how much someone watches the game and gains knowledge of a team’s ability, anything can happen that simply cannot be understood fully.

This is has been the case plenty of times so far this season. Nobody had any idea that both Kentucky and Duke would lose to mid-majors on their home floors while ranked #1 at the time. Also, nobody had any idea that a Florida team receiving National Title buzz would drop some of the games they have.

What’s amazing is that this is just how NCAA basketball is. Just like specific games have surprised us, there are quite a few teams that are surprising us right now as well. Whether it be for positive or negative reasons, some squads are performing differently than what was expected of them.

The focus here is on 10 teams that are surprising us with their poor performances. A few of these teams have lots of talent and were even being touted as teams capable of making deep NCAA Tournament runs. Others on this list are mid-majors that were predicted to put up stronger showings against tougher non-conference opponents.

Whatever the case may be, things have not gone well for these squads so far. Luckily for them, they still have opportunities in conference play to turn things around, but it will be an uphill battle for them to be able to shake off some of the pain brought about by the first two months of the season.

As I said before: it’s NCAA Basketball, anything can happen. With that said, here are the 10 teams that have surprised us so far by underachieving.
