NCAA Basketball: Best conference games to watch of 2019-20 season
Atlantic Sun
Well, this is one of the more predictable conferences in NCAA basketball. I mean, it honestly seems like the conference trophy and the NCAA Tournament berth can be given straight to Liberty right now. As likely as it is for Liberty to win, it is college basketball. Anything can happen.
1) Liberty vs. Lipscomb (1/18, 2/29)
If anybody in the Atlantic Sun is to beat Liberty, it will be Lipscomb. The two split meetings in the regular season last year, then Liberty went on to upset Lipscomb on the road in the A-Sun final.
America East
When assessing this conference at the beginning of the season, most were quick to say that Vermont would win it without a doubt, and head to the NCAA Tournament as a team capable of pulling off an upset. Now that they sit at 7-5 prior to league play, they seem more and more human.
1) UMBC vs. Vermont (1/11, 2/22)
UMBC and Vermont have lots of recent history in the America East. The past two seasons, they have met in the conference championship game. Since Vermont is not as impressive as they were thought to be, America East teams have a chance to dethrone them. UMBC has the biggest opportunity
Big Sky
This seems to be the year in which Montana will not be representing the conference in the NCAA Tournament. The door is wide open for anyone, but there are two that look to separate themselves.
1) Sacramento State vs. Eastern Washington (2/1, 2/20)
Both schools competed very well against other talented mid-majors in non-conference play. It looks like they will be the favorites in the league to earn the NCAA Tournament berth.
Big South
The Big South race is one mid-major league that can be predicted. The non-conference portion of the season went well for some while others are clearly not on the right track.
1) Campbell vs. Winthrop (1/4, 2/6)
At 9-3, Campbell is showing that they are a great team despite the fact that they lost one of the most prolific scorers in NCAA history in Chris Clemons. Winthrop sits at 6-7 but has played a very tough road schedule. I think these two are in a league of their own.
